Jay's bday

for Jay's birthday thought it would be fun to take him out with some of his zappos bff's downtown las vegas since he'd been wanting to check out this new spot, Commonwealth...first family dinner at Le Thai
Commonwealth next door, pretty neat place!
they have this secret spot inside called the Laundry Room, a Speakeasy that you can only get into by making reservations via text...I had never been to one, when I would hear Speakeasy, my first thought is Public Speaking classes that I took for work previously...hee!  So was pretty cool to learn about what they were...
pictures are dark because the rules are remain seated, no pictures, speak softly...the gal that walked us in said we could take pics, she just had to tell us that we couldn't, but we still wanted to be discrete about it and not have huge flashes everywhere...it is a pretty small space, fits about 15-20 people, one mixoligist...decorated with old pictures
drinks are strong, good but strong, I had the Jackie O
pigged out on the caramel corn
girls
and boys
excited to find a laundry pin, which has the number to text to make reservations...

fun to celebrate Jay's bday, he teases cause when I ask him what he wants to do for his birthday, he asks me what I want to do on his bday, so it's really like I have two birthdays cause we do what I want to do on his bday...hee!  married couples you know what I mean :)  Best Hubby Ever!
the following night me and the kids took him out to dinner which was the start of restaurant week, thought it would be amazing, it was an epic fail as the kids would say :)  Cute place, great service, the chef is from one of the reality cooking shows...Poppy Den by Angelo Sosa
when we got these fun kids menu, I thought for sure it was going to be great!  They had the pickled cucumbers which were good and the crab with toast for appetizers tasted fresh but the toast was too chard for my taste
kids burgers were not kids size, too big but the worst part was they were kinda burnt too
my duck was okay, but it tasted more like pork chop and had a weird sweetness to it and then Jay's Salmon which is the reason I picked this place, cause when I heard miso Salmon thought that was right up Jay's alley, it was okay but a portion of it was under cooked
then I thought okay the dessert has to be good, chips and ice-cream something fun and different, but they didn't go good together maybe because it was the burnt kind of chips...I guess you could say everything was a little burnt :)
Anyway, I hear their brunch is good, so maybe would give that a try but probably not, Jay's cooking at home is better :)  His usual bday gift from mom that he loves, meats for him to cook :)
