The Great Escape!

The last weekend of June was supposed to be the hottest, everyone was  talking about how hot and crazy it was going to be...people leaving town...we were so indecisive since the 4th of July holiday weekend was around the corner...Jay decided we'd take off early Sat morning while it's somewhat cool out as we don't want to be driving in the desert in the scary heat...so we left at 6am and went straight to the beach...went to a one we haven't been to Crystal Cove state park

we had to go through the tunnel to get there which at first looks pretty cool, but pretty gross on your way back when water gets in there

was a nice beach just crowded and very seaweedy
big waves that day

we stayed the night at a different place than our usual Doubletree at the Irvine Spectrum, checked out the Marriot and while not as close to the spectrum was nice to have a different pool that was half indoor
to get the most out of our time, usually get the kids up at least for enough time to swim and shower before we have to checkout at noon
was nice to lounge and enjoy SoCal weather

Jay didn't want to head home til evening because of the hot weather ahead so he took us up north to try the LA location of DC Cupcakes :)
not like being in the original location, but similar feel :)
 same set up
same art...they have a secret cupcake flavor of the day which they only make 100 of which we missed in DC, but this time we made it
it was chocolate covered strawberry the one with the DC logo which was okay, I preferred the regular strawberry cupcake with the pink frosting
she was made for this place :)

great weekend, while it seems short staying the one night, because we take advantage of the 2 full days it seems longer than it really is, we trip out sometimes on how short but how long it feels...nice to have a daddy that doesn't mind driving and likes to take off whenever...and as he says we ball on a budget :)

Double Digits for Jaylin

bdays continue with our little diva turning 10 this year!  Originally was just going to be a regular slumber party with some pink or polka dot decor since we wanted to do simple...she had been talking about a VIP party but I thought it was kinda weird.  While at Party City saw this Hollywood theme and which fit perfectly for her :)  I put up a black table cover, red carpet, balloons, bought a boa and the little hat and everything else just grabbed whatever we had in the closet for her and her friends to take pics, oh and little mini strobe light for dancing :)
she fits the part well :) she's so funny!
she did individual pictures with all her guests and then a group one
even me and Jay wanted a photo op
for cake just had cupcakes not iced so that they could decorate them
 they did good!
they had full on pillow fights, curled hair, wii just dance, and just a bunch of screaming, singing and dancing for hours :)
 fondue

smore's
they made good use of the red carpet, playing fashion show and america's next top model
striking a pose...I asked Jaylin why she is smelling her kili :)
these 10 girls really know how to party...so loud one of the moms could hear them all the way down the street :)
goodies for the girlie girls that made her day fab!
a very Happy Birthday for this girl!
partied continued on with the family with a limo ride...a few months back she had asked me to bid on the limo ride at an auction at her school.  The price was pretty reasonable for 2 hrs, it was the price of what one hour would be so I knew it was a good deal from when I had previously called to just inquire about it and luckily enough I put the minimum bid and nobody else bid on it so I won!  And we saved it for her birthday

drove down the strip and made two stops, first to the it's sugar candy shop
then McDonald's for ice cream :)

family pic in the limo...
Happy Birthday Jaylin!
